ECOSOC

 

The Economic and Social Council is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations. It was established in 1945 by the UN Charter and now consists of 45 member states. 

The responsibilities are amongst other things 

promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress,

identifying solutions to international economic, social, and health problems, 

facilitating international, cultural, and educational cooperation, and

encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

 

The ECOSOC is an INTERMEDIATE committee at HUGMUN and will be a good choice for delegates who have at least a little MUN experience.
